Renovations to the Gurdwara officially began in May 2012 and were successfully completed in May 2016.
The project involved internal and external refurbishment resulting in the creation of a Sikh Gurdwara on the new upper floor. On the ground floor we were able to create a new community space with a side extension.
Why did we do this?
We wanted to be able to provide a new improved, attractive cost effective building to harmonise our community. The new Grand Hall provides space for recreation activities, meetings, parties and has the benefit of a large kitchen area.
The project was driven and, coordinated by the Nirman Sewak Jatha Management Committee working with the full support of the congregation and local contractors and suppliers.
To start off the project each member of the Jatha group kindly provided a standard donation and those in the group who were able contributed larger donations. Originally we estimated that approximately 50 individuals would be involved in the project, however in the end our congregation of approx 150 became involved in the project.
As the project progressed we realised that more funding would be required to complete all of the phases so each full member from the Jatha Group donated more funding and the Gurdwara took out a bank loan to secure funds to complete the project.
The group worked tirelessly with small businesses and local funding organisations to raise additional funding.
Today the Jatha group continue to generously fund the organisation to help keep operations running and to enable us to re-pay the bank loan.
WE ARE GRATEFUL TO THOSE MEMBERS WHO HELPED WITH EVERY ASPECT OF THE MUSH NEEDED PROJECT AND ARE STILL WITH US DONATING EVERY MONTH, THE JATHA APPRECIATE THEIR ONGOING SUPPORT AND HOPE THEY CAN ALSO PLAY A STRATEGIC ROLE TOO BY JOINING THE COMMITTEE.
TO THE WIDER PUBLIC WE STILL REQUIRE YOUR FINANCIAL SUPPORT AND OTHERWISE, GOD BLESS.
